Shahana Goswami, who will star opposite Randeep Hooda in Ru-Ba-Ru says that this is one film where she will be "playing the lead and it comes at the right time. Though I have been noticed in whatever I did before my debut in Naseeruddin Shahs Yun Hota To Kya Hota and in Honeymoon Travels Private Limited (as Boman Irani's daughter), these were small roles. She says that things are looking up for her especially with two more films which promise good tidings for her career she's also starring in Rock On opposite Arjun Rampal and plays the heroine in Nandita Das directorial debut.
When I made my debut in Bollywood, I didn't come with sky high expectations. The only goals that I kept were that whatever I do, I should do it with conviction. I wanted to do a variety of work and not be typecast, says Shahana.
And it didnt bother her one bit that she didn't make a splash with her debut nor had a big banner film to launch her. Whatever one does well, it is bound to get noticed. Even if all I had to myself were small roles, I didn't have any reason to complain. I worked with some very senior and talented actors and I learnt so much, says Shahana. And so happy is she with her first lead role that she says that, Everything in life has a silver lining. For me, this role means that whatever I did before was of consequence and potential. I mean, even before I came to Bollywood, I was with a theatre group. Though I didnt act and worked backstage, looking back I realise that every little thing has benefited me.Did she have a difficult time shooting with Randeep, given the fact that he's known to be moody? I had heard things about him, she says honesty, "but when I worked with him, I found that it was a learning curve for me. He was good to me and that is all that matters. What about the numerous kissing scenes that she had with Randeep? A kiss is an eternal sign of romance and love. We had to get the intimacy and chemistry of a couple who is living in right. It was a part of my job and Randeep is a thorough professional, says Shahana.Very fond of dancing, Shahana says that moving to Mumbai has left her with very little time to do anything else. I never went to a gym while I was in Delhi. Dancing kept me fit. And now, however alien a concept gymming sounds, I have no other option but to exercise.
